Oh ..ar - this is all getting a bit out of hand (16/05/05)

Having built the CAOW1’s I sold my original small pair of (1) Tannoy and (2) NAD speakers I used on my second system. comprising my old Musical Fidelity A100 amp feed from my PC.

Of course the PC CD drive was pretty awful, so I’ve just bought a Denon CD player off eBay.Now I’m morphing the CAOW1’s into 3 ways so my second system has no speakers.

Oh .. good idea - just loved the Fostex full range back loaded horns - lets try their small FE126E in the recommended 10 BR box.

So only a 4 1/2” driver but to be used is a small room as a very high quality CD/PC audio system - next “quick project” before BIG line array experiment.

Great Fostex voice even for such a small driver. Initially sound a bit thin, but soon settled in after a few hours and bass not bad.

I’m sure with more “burn-in” sound will impove even more.

I really like these small 126E’s - highly recommended. A small subwoofer would be good for a larger room or those bass heads among you

Oct 2005: after a few weeks of playing the 126’s I realised I had an old Altec Lasing AD 305 satellites and sub in the cupboard that I use to use on the PC so I pulled out the sub and wired in to my amp - vola - bass. For the job in hand the little 6” driver is fine and fills in the lower end quite acceptable.

I’m tempted to build a powered sub with a TB W6-1139SC 6 1/2” Neo subwoofer and 100 watt PE subwoofer amp ... to be continued?

Aug 2007 - see Project 09 where I rebuilt these drivers into their “Back Loaded Horn + Bass Reflex Hybrid Enclosure€� (Fostex’s name - not mine?) , I did a trade for this cabinet mid 2007 and swapped the drivers back into the above boxes - drivers great but on comparison a BR box isn’t really the right thing for these driver - use some form of horn.

Frugel Horn to be built in the future????
