Joints

This page is to be developed further .... but will include

  • Flush glued joints
  • Screwed ditto
  • Rebates and tongue and grooved joints
  • Flush mitre joints (see below)
  • 24/06/2007 ... I had a bit of spare time this morning so ... this was a “first run” with a bit of scrap MDF.

    Flush Mitre Joints

    I saw this technique on another site? but before I got some decent power tools accurate 45°  cuts where out of the question for me.

    I love my Jet table saw but it is mechanical and how accurate can the adjustments be?

    No problem; my little Wixey digital angle meter solves this!

    Box_02

    Line up panels, tight and tape together with masking tape.

    Yep, burn marks shouldn’t be there. If this was for real I’d run them over a 45° router bit to clean that error out.

    Box_03

    Apply glue, wrap and tape tight.

    Vola, perfect box

    You may have spotted? the sides are only 100 mm wide, we’ll see how easy this is on a larger box later!!!
